Moving the Stairs Back
There was no headroom going downstairs to the basement. Anyone 5'5" had to duck to make it down there!
No one said they could do it, but David and Philly cut a hole in the floor and moved the stairs backward.
Problem solved.

Hardwood Floors
before and after of what took weeks to refinish our dining room/entryway floor
Tah da! It won't look like this again until the basement is finished. We just don't have enough room for all the supplies and fixtures etc. that will go down there. I'm glad I got a picture!
Wish it still was this pretty! Some of the clear coat came up after all that hard work. (I blame me because I may have used too much stain...) I also scratched it when I moved the couch across...I had forgotten the bottom had exposed screws!! :( I guess it has character now.
This shows the foam that had to be scraped by hand, then the old yellow paint that had to be scraped and repeatedly stripped. After all that, the finishing could begin.

I've been holding off on making new posts because I wanted to show some before and after pictures of our floor that we're finishing...
however, woe is me, its still not done. We had uncovered some blotches that looked like something spilled and stained the wood...and I think we've made it worse. Not to mention the stain is much darker than we had expected. But I've pretty much decided the dark blue walls are going away and are going to be very much lightened, so maybe it won't be so bad.
Other than that, not much happening. Davy took me on a date last weekend, which was way nice. (we got to have a little lobster!! :) yum!) and then he set up an x box account for me in hopes I will play with him instead of pout when he plays. Yeah. We'll see.

So it looks like Ohio won't happen. At least not this year. Delta turned us both down; we had applied to work at the Cincinnati Airport after we decided the job David was holding out for wasn't going to happen anytime soon. They didn't say why, other than we're under qualified? I'm sure it was our lack of Call center experience.
But I'm definitely ok with that. The concept of moving had me all stressed and I was already missing my family. Besides, conflict with customers really freaks me out. I'm still shaking from refusing to cash a check about a half hour ago. So, a call center may not be the best place for me.
Now we're hoping for our home equity line of credit to be approved so we can increase the equity of our house. Pocatello might be our next endeavour, so we're trying to get a little more prepared this time.

David and I are at crossroads. We're waiting to hear if he gets a job in Ohio working with his brother on computers. If so, we're moving across the country and starting a whole new life. If not, we may be moving to Salt Lake City pursuing jobs at the airport. Its much more expensive to live there, and the job isn't a perfect fit for David like the one in Ohio, but its a good change, the benefits are amazing, and we'd be much closer to the majority of our family.
I'm scared to death and the anticipation is painful. Of course, there's still the chance that both jobs fall through and we stay here in Burley. I guess we'll see.
